It's not that getting a new 3D printer is enough of a challenge but I have to convert a new machine into something else? Am I making some Frankenstein's monster? No not really it's just that the DP5 has all the parts I was going to buy to build my own and it will cost me less money to build it this way and I'll have a working machine to build the parts I need to start the project before I commit to converting it over. I'll be using this forum as a build log and the master link to all the other media that will get created as I proceed.
I'm interested in this. As I upgrade my DP5, everything that comes off of it is going into a hypercube style build that I'll start when I have enough spare parts lying around. The idea is to have two printers when I'm done.
This is the latest part for the core XY build. Part of the reason Core XY is so fast is because they have tried to remove as much mass as possible from the moving parts. Chris from Tech2C has found that these carbon fiber tubes from the quadcopter build list works as an extremely light X axis rod. Since I already have the 10mm bushings from the aluminum tube test I don't need anything but the new rods.
