Thingiverse, Dial Indicator Mount
I saw a photo fellow member tanephar posted of a digital version of this and wanted to make my own to use an old dial indicator that I had. On my indicator each division is 0.001", the thickness of paper is about 0.004" so if you level it to within a couple of divisions you're doing pretty good. I printed the part at 20% infill and tried to make it as light as possible and mounted it with aluminum hardware. The indicator is only mounted when leveling or checking the bed.
After the first failed attempt at leveling I found the right side Z acme nut mounting bolts had loosened off a few turns. I had noticed that my Z axis was turning too much during printing and it was one of the reasons I quickly finished this part because I always hated doing the paper feeler gauge method.
