About 3 months ago, I made a thread where I asked for the best mods and settings for this printer. In this thread I didn’t provide any information about the project itself, so I would like to post about this now, since the project has been completed. For the last couple of months I’ve been working on a robot vacuum cleaner, which we made for a school project. We were actually a team of 2. The other guy did all the programming, while I made the design and built it. I printed the entire thing on the DMS DP5 (without a lot of mods). I actually had to design our robot vacuum cleaner in parts because It measures about 30cm x 30cm. I was later able to connect the printed parts together by using a 3D-pen. The prints came out really good, except that the prints did have some sings of Z-wobble, which I managed to remove with some sanding. We decided to use an Arduino mega as the brain of our robot, which we combined with a Bluetooth module, so our robot would be controllable from an android phone as well as from a smart watch (with android wear). The person I worked with had the job to write all the code for the robot itself as well as for the app. I think he did an amazing job on it. The app works really well and there are a lot of settings to play around with. I think that the end result is really surprising. We have never done anything like this before, but we’ve still managed to build a working robot vacuum cleaner. (which is in fact being used) If there are any questions regarding our project, then feel free to ask them 😊

Hi, a friend and I are working on a project for school and we are thinking that this would be a very helpful resource. Would it be possible to maybe obtain any sort of blueprint or specs list as well as a copy of the code/app if you are willing to do so? Full credit would go to you in our presentation and we would probably have to modify it anyway. Thank you very much and awesome project

Awesome Stofzuiger Robot project!
I see a radial fan in the middle of the robot; is that one for sucking the dirt from the floor / how does the suction mechanism work? Commercial cleaning robots use brushes; do you use these as well? How do you prevent the fan from being clogged by the dust and where do you collect the dust?
Love it!

Sorry for my late response, I thought I would get a notification by email if anyone reacts to my threads. I made a post on Reddit where we answered a lot of questions. The person I worked with also posted a link to his GitHub. I would like to help with any school project. But like someone in the comments of the reddit post pointed out: there is a post from someone on Instructables who made a similar looking robot vacuum cleaner. This guide contains some really clear instructions and his design is better in some ways. I would highly advise using this guide. (The guy who pointed this out thought that I stole my design from instructables, which is not true. You should read my reply, if you're interested in the differences.)
If there are still questions, then feel free to ask them. (Also possible on Reddit)

Thanks for letting me know! They didn't contact me, so I wasn't aware of it. I think it's really cool that they did write an article about our project though.
