About 3 months ago, I made a thread where I asked for the best mods and settings for this printer. In this thread I didn’t provide any information about the project itself, so I would like to post about this now, since the project has been completed.
For the last couple of months I’ve been working on a robot vacuum cleaner, which we made for a school project. We were actually a team of 2. The other guy did all the programming, while I made the design and built it.
I printed the entire thing on the DMS DP5 (without a lot of mods). I actually had to design our robot vacuum cleaner in parts because It measures about 30cm x 30cm. I was later able to connect the printed parts together by using a 3D-pen.
The prints came out really good, except that the prints did have some sings of Z-wobble, which I managed to remove with some sanding.
We decided to use an Arduino mega as the brain of our robot, which we combined with a Bluetooth module, so our robot would be controllable from an android phone as well as from a smart watch (with android wear). The person I worked with had the job to write all the code for the robot itself as well as for the app. I think he did an amazing job on it. The app works really well and there are a lot of settings to play around with.
I think that the end result is really surprising. We have never done anything like this before, but we’ve still managed to build a working robot vacuum cleaner. (which is in fact being used)
