This could be because I don't fully understand the commands because I have gotten it to work other times. Here's the problem, my home position seems to move around. Sometimes it pushes the Z sensor off the board and the print head comes crashing into the bed, other times it seems to work fine. It looks like my home is either top left or somewhere about two inches away. Does someone know of a good guide on setting and checking the home position, I've looked and a lot of them go right into Marlin programming.
Speaking of Marlin programming, anyone have a copy of Marlin for the DP5?
Much thanks!

I trashed my copy of marlin trying to help someone, king has it though. is it the y axis falling off the build plate? meaning the bed sticks in too far and won't trip the sensor? If that's the case, I'd flip the printer over and reach through the trap door under the bed and make sure the limit switch is securely attached to the y carriage. Next, I'd check to see if the limit switch is hitting against the motor like it should when you home the y axis. The instructions weren't very clear on where to put the tower, but there should be about a 37mm gap between the usb port and the z motor on the right hand side of the printer. If you press home and you get inconsistent home positions, like the x carriage not touching the endstop but stopping, it's because the x motor lead is running in parallel with the endstop lead and interference is sending a false trip signal. Then you would have to separate the wires slightly. if you see my video here: youtu.be/6dx1MDLm338 you'll see how I wrapped my x leads so that the wrap separates the wires. pretty much 1 full wrap around the motor wire, cross over, 1 full wrap around the endstop wire, cross over, repeat. It fixed my issue completely.

I had set my tower by moving the build plate just off the limit switch then sliding the tower so the extruder reached the edge.
I moved the wires apart by cutting the wire zip ties and moving them away from each, I'll get something later to make it more secure later.
Now what happens when I hit home is the y limit is hit then the motor keeps running and makes all kinds of noise before it stops and goes to the next part of the home routine. The routine ends with the XY somewhere near the middle.
I guess I should look for a routine that shows if the limit switches are working?

Try plugging into pronterface and running an m119 command, with the build plate somewhere in the middle of it's travels. It should say "endstop not triggered. Then reach under the build plate and push the endstop by hand, and send another m119 command. If it says endstop not triggered, you have a bad endstop, or the connection is loose. It's a normally open switch, electricity only flows if it's triggered, so you could hook a multimeter up to the switch at the connector set for continuity. No beep when not triggered, beeep when triggered.

Pronterface! I've seen that in a few caps and vids and was trying to find something like that, thanks very much!!! Looks like my Z endstop is not reporting TRIGGERED when it should be. I can fix that... Later dudes.

Got Ponterface working and I have a bad Y endstop switch. I had the switch out and a meter on it and it's not working. Anyone have any experience with getting factory parts or should I bother?

You are right! I owe you a beer.
I ordered five switches last night but at this rate I might be needing them.

Replaced Y axis switch with spare from parts kit. Passes test using m119 Crashing and loud noises gone. X,Y home still in odd place.
I've been turning steppers off and moving X,Y manually then hitting "Set home offsets" thinking this will move the home position but "auto home" takes me right back to about 2" x,y.

Can you show a picture of where it's homing to? is it off the front of the bed, or the side of the bed?

Before the switch screwing up it used to home in the bottom left corner, it must be something I changed when I was trying to diagnose the problem. Attachments:

What is the screen reporting the position is, x y value wise? If it reads 0, that's a problem. If it reads something like x50 y50 it's not really a big deal and probably a setting issue.

It says X 9 Y-25 Z 0

Hmmm, maybe you should try hitting the reset button in the menu. Actually I think it's called restore, maybe you set a home offset and it keeps going back to that. If you hit home, does it go through the process and trigger all the endstops?

Restore failsafe, worked. I'm printing again.
